He gassed his own people!!

And now it’s our turn!

There have been attempts to downplay the horror of it, now that the story of US troops using White Phosphorus artillery shells on Iraqi civilians is less deniable than it was last week.

Not technically chemical weapons” says the Pentagon now that their denial has been rendered obsolete. Articles in the New York Times, in it’s role as distributor of Government Propaganda, state that it’s incorrect to call them chemical weapons although, of course the toxic nature of the substance is known to those few who can pass High School Chemistry these days.

Of course for Republicans, the truth is very relative because the same materials were deemed to be chemical weapons when Saddam used them against Iraqis and his use of chemical weapons against the Kurds was an oft cited reason for the “régime change” that at one stage was the reason for this war.

As ThinkProgress.org points out, “. . .the distinction is a minor one, and arguably political in nature. A formerly classified 1995 Pentagon intelligence document titled “Possible Use of Phosphorous Chemical” describes the use of white phosphorus by Saddam Hussein on Kurdish fighters:”

“DURING THE BRUTAL CRACKDOWN THAT FOLLOWED THE KURDISH UPRISING, IRAQI FORCES LOYAL TO PRESIDENT SADDAM ((HUSSEIN)) MAY HAVE POSSIBLY USED WHITE PHOSPHOROUS (WP) CHEMICAL WEAPONS AGAINST KURDISH REBELS”

Thus another step toward becoming the new Saddam in Iraq is taken. Thus another Bush lie has been exposed. The administration continues to tap dance around the truth and pretend everything is going amazingly well. How much longer will it take for America to wake up and smell the seared flesh? When will we impeach the worst President this country has ever had?
