Yellow ribbons

According to Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America about 100,000 veterans have suffered traumatic brain injuries. The concussion of a nearby explosion: a roadside bomb or near miss by a rocket propelled grenade can do enough brain damage to leave the victim with lasting dizziness, problems with vision, hearing, or speech, memory loss, and other kinds of more severe brain damage.

That’s the bad news. The worse news is that Congress wants to save a few million out of the billions and billions it spends watching Iraqis kill each other by cutting back on research and treatment for war related brain injuries. I wonder how many yellow ribbons one has to stick on one’s Hummer to make up for the shortfall.

I wonder how big the next generation of homeless and helpless vets will be living out on the streets because of the war mongering bastards, but it’s not their fault, it’s not Rumsfeld’s fault, nor George’s nor any of the Neocon nitwits: It’s our fault. We permit it, we support it and we don’t really care as long as it’s somebody else’s kid or husband or daughter or wife.

Another part of the tragedy of this failed policy: the 1000's of vets who don't even know the extent of their injuries (both mental and physical).

This is the most immoral president the country has known...
