Window in the world

Watching TV can be like a window into some other strange world where reality is constantly created and destroyed, mixed and blended; where odd creatures blare like foghorns about moral standards and absolute values.  God and Patriotism and faith and honor swim about in ever shifting colors and meanings.

Until last week, it was a good thing to out those who prey on minors for sex; such a good thing that laws are never severe enough and civil rights are never precious enough to stand in the way of rooting out the predators.  Now it’s different. Now one is suspected of being a non-Republican, otherwise called a traitor because the timing of the outing is inconvenient for a Republican about to perform the sacred ritual of being re-elected.

In this mysterious world, a Democrat can be a Republican and a Republican can be a Democrat according to whether the description serves the holy cause of Republican domination, and so Mark Foley, champion of Children and aspiring sodomiser of boys, mighty man of Republican valor, can become a Democrat when caught with his pants down while the Republicans screech and hiss and squawk and rattle and squeak like the band in a Peking Opera.  On Fox and in the right wing media, a Republican is a Republican until he is caught. Liberal is just another word for evil.

If there are no more disgusting revelations, by November 7th, the entire sordid debacle will have become another despicable attempt by the Despicable Democrats to unseat a man of virtue by indecent allegations and unethical behavior. The admission of guilt will be rendered nugatory with a little verbal voodoo and the damning evidence will be washed away because of “timing.”

I suspect there will be more disgusting revelations; things that perhaps will exceed the capacity of obese congressmen, drug addicted radio demagogues and anorexic witches to blame on Liberals.  I hope there will be a time when the public begins to choke on the fulsome farrago of Fox News garbage and begins to take back our country from the insurgents.
